I live in Tokyo, which makes it easier to follow these changes as they happen and to read the official notices that often appear in Japanese first.
How the guides are researched
Every guide is checked against official sources — JR companies, the Japan Tourism Agency, the National Tax Agency, and airport operators. Each guide shows when its facts were checked, and I update guides when the rules change.
